New York, NY - August 2, 2005 -MTV: Music Television today announced that Mariah Carey and the Killers are set to perform on the ''2005 MTV Video Music Awards.''Hosted by Diddy, the 2005 VMAs will broadcast live from AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, FL on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at 8:00PM (LIVE ET/Tape Delayed PT). Mariah Carey and the Killers join a list of previously announced musical heavy-weight performers including Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, and Green Day.

''Mariah and the Killers have both had amazing years - taken together they have sold more than 8 million albums, set up camp on the Billboard charts, and spawned numerous hit singles,'' said Christina Norman, President, MTV. ''We are working closely with Mariah and the Killers to present two of the most sensational show-stopping performances for this year's VMAs.''

As one of the best-selling female performers of all time, Mariah Carey has continuously raised the bar and set the standard of excellence within the music industry worldwide. Her current album, The Emancipation of Mimi, is triple platinum in the US with worldwide sales of the album have topped the 4 million mark. ''We Belong Together” hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100, Pop 100, Pop 100 Airplay, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay, Adult R&B (a career-first for Mariah), Rhythmic Top 40, and Mainstream Top 40 making her the first solo artist ever to top all eight charts concurrently. The video for ''We Belong Together'' has been nominated in the Best Female Video and Best R&B Video categories.

''Mr. Brightside''by Island recording group the Killers has generated four MTV VMA nominations - Best Group Video, Best Rock Video, Best New Artist In A Video, and Best Art Direction In A Video. On August 16th, the Killers will release a special album titled, Hot Fuss Limited Edition, which will include 3 bonus tracks (''Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll,'' ''The Ballad of Michael Valentine'' and ''Under The Gun'') never released before in the United States.
